Dual-valve pressure controllers from Alicat eliminate the need for a bleed valve for pressure control in closed or dead-ended volumes.  This allows for responsive and stable control in closed volumes without wasting costly gas through a continuous bleed valve.  The PCD Series incorporates a second, independently-controlled exhaust valve that actuates only when the pressure needs to be reduced, keeping gas venting to an absolute minimum.

The PCD series absolute or gauge pressure controllers contain pressure sensors that are referenced to vacuum (absolute) or to local barometric pressure (gauge). In addition to inlet and outlet ports, a third process port connects the sensor to your closed volume.  The PCD series absolute or gauge pressure controllers are also available with a remote pressure sensor port (PCD3), so you can control flow at a different point to ensure your pressure stays on target.  The PCD3 series absolute or gauge pressure controllers have flow paths that are isolated from their pressure sensors. In addition to the process port, an external pressure sense port can be plumbed to measure pressure directly from any point in your closed system.  This allows pressure control in areas where you cannot easily install a full pressure controller and reduces the effects of flow-induced pressure changes in high-flow applications.

The PCD series differential pressure controllers maintain a constant pressure differential between their two measurement ports. Like the PCD3 above, each of the two pressure measurement ports of the differential pressure controller can be plumbed to any point in your process.

As well, most instruments in the standard PCD and PCD3 series are available with an optional “S” configuration (PCS or PC3S) for use with liquids and corrosive gases.  In this configuration, the valve has been upgraded to 303 stainless steel, the sensor to 316L stainless steel, and the elastomers to FFKM.  If the corrosive gases you are working with require 316L stainless steel throughout the flow path, contact us about upgrading the valve (type PCA) and flow body.  Available for full-scale flow ranges of 20 LPM or less.

• User adjustable setpoint ramping & limits: Configurable ramp rates allow the process variable to be controlled as fast or as slow as desired, and configurable setpoint limits protect processes from inadvertent setpoint changes.
• Valve close override and valve open override: Utilize alarms to quickly vent your system or stop all flow as needed.
