MCD Series Standard Bidirectional Series Mass Flow Controller
Control flow in both directions with the world's first bidirectional mass flow controller
Sometimes a process is too complex for a standard mass flow controller. Alicat’s multi-directional mass flow controllers consolidate into one instrument what would otherwise require two or three separate devices.
When you need to control flow in two directions, choose the world’s first bidirectional mass flow controller, Alicat’s MCD series. Control flows into your flowing or closed process in one direction, and then reverse flow with multivariate measurement of flow, pressure and temperature in each direction. Or control flow into a closed process using pressure control while monitoring flow rates, and then vent the volume with no need for additional bleed valves.
Instruments in the MCD series are also available with an optional “S” configuration for use with aggressive or corrosive gases (MCDS). In this configuration, the valves are upgraded to 303 stainless steel, the sensor to 316L stainless steel, and the elastomers to FFKM. Some corrosive gases require 316L stainless steel throughout the flow path, and in this case, both valves (type PCA) and flow body can be upgraded to 316L stainless steel for full-scale flow ranges of 20 slpm or less.
Alicat’s MCD series mass flow controllers feature dual digital and analog communications by default and can be ordered with Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, Profibus or Modbus communications for easy integration into your digital industrial or laboratory network. Other build options include your choice of display, downstream valve, and flow totalizers as well as performance options. Need further customization?
