Ex e / Ex i terminal enclosures meet all requirements for installation areas in which explosive concentrations of gases, vapours & dusts may occur
Considering the heating with terminals fitted in temperature class T6, temperatures above 85 °C will not occur inside or outside. This means that combustible gases, vapours or dusts cannot be ignited. The enclosures are integrated into the equipotential bonding by means of the external earth connection. In this way, static charging and the resulting sparks are completely prevented. Ex terminal enclosures in the increased safety "e" type of protection are therefore permitted to be combined with intrinsically safe "i" electrical circuits, provided that the space available allows this. A clearance and creepage distance of at least 50 mm must be maintained between the terminals of the two electrical circuits. The additional heating of the intrinsically safe circuits can be disregarded.
