LinkIQ Cable & Network Tester
Verifies cable plant changes, ensures performance of new devices, & troubleshoots network issues quickly
The LinkIQ™ Network+Cable Tester is designed to be the trusted cable and network tester that professionals need. LinkIQ supports Industrial Ethernet (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, EtherCAT, and others) and is certified by the Ethernet Alliance to IEEE-802.3™ PoE standards for reliable multi-vendor interoperability. Additional convenient features include Analog and Digital Toning, Port Blink, Remote Office Locators, and integration with LinkWare™ PC software for managing and documenting results.
Validates Cable Performance Up to 10 Gig
LinkIQ’s primary cable testing feature is the cable performance test, which qualifies the cabling bandwidth from 10BASE-T to 10GBASE-T (10 Mb/s up to 10 Gb/s).
Using frequency-based measurements, LinkIQ can measure lengths up to 1,000 feet (305 m) and provide distance to faults such as opens, shorts, and unterminated cable. Its remote ID feature provides a complete wire map of the cable pairs, which helps identify miswired and split pairs. By using IEEE standards-based measurements, LinkIQ ensures that tested links meet performance requirements, where transmission testers can only prove that specific test devices can communicate over the link.
Detailed IP Ping Shortens Troubleshooting Time
LinkIQ speeds troubleshooting with IP ping tests that verify connectivity and provides detailed information on the nearest connected switch — which means you can quickly identify key network issues and validate switch configuration without having to use another device.
LinkIQ negotiates with the switch to identify the advertised data rate (up to 10GBASE-T), half/full duplex identification, the switch name and IP address, port number, and VLAN info.
The ping test verifies connectivity to devices on the local network or the internet, and it supports both IPv4 and v6. Set up LinkIQ’s address manually or through DHCP. The ping test then runs as part of the Autotest when a switch is detected. Ping test results include identification and response time of each of four pings to the target, the DNS server, and the gateway.
In-Depth PoE Testing
While Power over Ethernet (PoE) makes installation of devices such as security cameras and access points simpler, an Ethernet Alliance survey of over 800 installers, integrators, and end users found that four out of five respondents experienced difficulties in integrating PoE systems, partly because the IEEE offers three PoE standards. Further, the term “PoE” is not registered, meaning there are a variety of non-standards-compliant implementations as well.
To simplify PoE installation and troubleshooting, LinkIQ displays the pairs where power is provided, showing the different power levels and pairs for dual-signature implementations. LinkIQ will place a load on the connection to ensure that the advertised power is actually being delivered by the switch across the cabling infrastructure.
Color Touchscreen Interface
Like your smartphone, the LinkIQ has a large, gesture-based touchscreen that displays a great deal of information and provides clear, easy-to-use controls such as sliders and a full keyboard. While LinkIQ can perform a variety of tests, the user interface is simplified with a single TEST function — the results displayed are determined solely by what’s connected to the unit’s single RJ-45 connector. A single USB-C port provides connectivity to your PC for software updates, reporting, and charging.
Like other Fluke Networks products, LinkIQ is tested in our environmental lab with vibration, temperature, humidity, electrostatic discharge, and drop tests to ensure its ruggedness.
Complete Documentation via LinkWare PC
LinkIQ provides complete documentation for the tests it performs. Up to 1,000 results with descriptive names can be stored in the tester and recalled. Test names and numbers automatically increment when saved (“Annex B-1,” “Annex B-2,” “Annex B-3,” etc.), saving valuable time when you test cables in sequence.
Report data exports to LinkWare PC, which supports a variety of testers going back 20 years. It is the industry’s de facto reporting solution, with tens of thousands of active users. LinkWare can store test results as well as generate PDF reports.
